- Who We Are -
Your neighborhood bakery.
A small, traditional bakery baking bagels, bread, and dough by hand right here in Blacksburg — made by familiar faces in your neighborhood. Everything we bake is from scratch, using traditional methods and a lot of care for both the craft and our community.
Baked here. Shared here.
A bakery built around baking
We focus on baking great bread and bagels, not table service or a café menu. Stop in, grab what you need, and take it home — whether it’s for a snack, family dinner, the workday ahead, or a weekend gathering.
That focus lets us do what we do best: bake well, bake fresh, and bake often.

Pete Macedo
Owner
Pete has been an owner of Blacksburg Bagels since 2014 and took things on full time in 2018. His love of good pie took him on the path to growing Blacksburg Bagels into what it is today.
Molly
Mix Master
Molly can mix. Molly can boil. Molly can bake. But Molly will not accept any of your guff at 5am.
– Our Story –
What sets Blacksburg Bagels apart is its commitment to sourcing locally and offering allergen-friendly options.
The bakery was founded with a passion for baking and a desire to give back to the community. We believe that using locally sourced ingredients not only supports local farmers and producers but also ensures our community receives the freshest, highest-quality products possible.
Blacksburg Bagels is not a restaurant or a cafe, but rather a true bakery focused solely on baking and providing the neighbors with delicious, fresh-baked goods. We offer various options for anyone with dietary restrictions, including gluten-free and vegan options.
In addition to our commitment to quality and community, Blacksburg Bagels also gives back by donating to local food banks. We believe everyone should have access to fresh, healthy food and are proud to support local organizations that share these values.
Whether you're stopping by for a quick snack or ordering bread online, you can expect exceptional service and the freshest, highest-quality baked goods.
Sourcing
We do our very best to utilize locally-produced ingredients whenever possible, including from area farms you can visit at our local farmer’s markets. Here’s who we’ve partnered with so far:
Glade Road Growing: fresh produce and herbs
West Farms: fresh produce
The Green Market: fresh produce
Lindley Mills: flour (distributed by KDL Foods in Salem, Virginia)
Homestead Creamery: Milk products
Allergens
It is important to note that many of our products contain potential food allergens. We do have several items that do not contain gluten but as a traditional bakery, much of our product line is most definitely gluten-full. Our available ingredients also include dairy, eggs, sesame, tree nuts, and soy. Our facility is peanut-free. All products have ingredients listed on their packaging but feel free to ask if you have any specific concerns.
All of our bagels are vegan except for the cheesy varieties. Depending on the variety they may also contain soy, sesame, or tree nuts.
Our pretzels contain dairy. Depending on the variety they may also contain soy, or sesame.
Ask us what’s in our pies. The varieties will change with the seasons.
